End of Year Luncheon

The Monroeville Garden Club met on May 14, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church.  Charlotte Lambert, President ,opened the meeting

New business consisted of the announcement of new officers:

President - Laura Bodiford;  Vice President - Scarlet Strom; Secretary - Sammy Long; and Treasurer - Faye Estes.

Members voted to give money for the purchase of patriotic metal stakes  to place in the flower pots around the square for the 250 year America Birthday.  Members were also asked to volunteer their services to decorate tables at the community house for the Bounty and Grace event on June 4th.

Sammye Long announced the Friends of the Library Bake Sale, June 29th, and asked for food donations and attendance.

Yearly dues were collected and members signed up for monthly programs for the coming year, starting in September.

Charlotte recognized a special guest, Anne Marie Bryan, Main Street Director, and new members, Grace Johnston and Claudia Swift.

Members were informed of several monetary gifts from Main Street, the Hornady Family, and The Mockingbird Company.

After the blessing, we all enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Bev Colquett, Dianne Bond, and Tonja Carter:  fruit salad, pasta salad, chicken salad, crackers, lime pudding cups and water.    The table decorations were done in a pink and gold motif with flower arrangements in lovely teapots collected by Bev.  The luncheon was not only delicious, but also very elegant.  Thank you hostesses!

For the program, Carolyn Hutcherson (Mrs. Fillpot Gardener) gave an entertaining reading/skit.  Her outfit was, also, very original and delightfully appealing!

The meeting adjourned with everyone looking forward to September and the start of a new club year.
